UN backtracks on claim that deadly IDF strike hit Gaza school

Source: UN backtracks on claim that deadly IDF strike hit Gaza school - Haaretz - Israel News

The United Nations has reversed its stance on one of the most contentious and bloody incidents of the recent Israel Defense Forces operation in Gaza, saying that an IDF mortar strike that killed 43 people on January 6 did not hit one of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency schools after all.

It seems that the UN has been under pressure to put the record straight after doubts arose that the school had actually been targeted. Maxwell Gaylord, the UN humanitarian coordinator in Jerusalem, said Monday that the IDF mortar shells fell in the street near the compound, and not on the compound itself.

I remember when Lady Di died, my brother (who was still young at the time) made a very dark-humor comment, saying: "Oh it's so sad to see that nice car crashed!"

So I guess all the pictures shown here never actually happened. The UN must have succumbed to the pressure, similar to how they backed off the investigation into "Israel's" diliberate targeting of the UN shelter in Qana in 1996.

As for Jenin, verified, corroborated eyewitness accounts clearly establish that "Israel" committed horrible crimes and deliberately targeted civilians. In one case an old man on a wheelchair carrying a white flag was shot and then run over by a tank. "Israel" can continue to lie, and the US can continue to bully the world into accepting "Israel's" lies, but as one Palestinian poet said, "All that you have done to our people is registered in notebooks." We will never forget and we will never forgive.

You can try this: "IDF strike hit Gaza school " - Google Search

This is very strict search. If you will loosen it a bit you will get much more.

BTW, did you doubt Haarets when it initially reported strike on that very school?

With Jenin Palestinians initially claimed 3000 dead and almost all civilians.
Investigation uncovered 54 (not 3000) dead of whom close to 50 were militants.
Geniuses even were caught moving dead bodies around trying to count dead more than once and it was caught on tape.
The result, nobody takes their claims seriously anymore and this school story does not help their cause either.

The UN is nothing but a play tool in the hand of the US and Israel... They always reverse their stances when it comes to condemning Israel... Anyway, those who are dead are dead, the UN will not change the fact that more than 500 kids were brutally killed and this was witnessed by media all over the world........

I absolutely agree. And this is why I did not trust UN for a second when they said Israelis bombed some kind of school.

As to being tool of US or Israel. Does not add up. Why make a claim in the first place, so to look like fools later? Hardly.

i definitely would doubt Haaretz when it tries to protect Israel...

don't u think it is just normal for Haaretz to take Israel's position and protect Israeli interests...

look at Washington Post, NY Times and all the other US newspapers who easily swallowed the idea of WMD in Iraq and marketed it so well in the whole world.... without checking their sources...
they were simply protecting US interests or at least they thought so...

PS: I expected an official UN public statement...
