And Yasser Arafat the Butcher got a Nobel Prize of Peace, so what?
How much credibility does such a prize have?
Obama may be eligible of such a prize, but I am against awarding such a prize to politicians who proved nothing at all.
I wonder why George Bush didn't get one....

Surprised? If Ariel Sharon got the nobel prize of peace then Obama deserves the god representative one.

In my opinion he deserves it! and this noble should make him work harder to achieve peace in the world! Obama is the strongest leader in the world and I believe he can make a change!

I think this prize is not gonna be a prize for Obama, it is rather an application of pressure by the hopefuls, it is the world telling him "you talk the talk now walk the walk" and I do hope he does walk the walk and I hope he does succeed at it too.
there are no signs of relief any ware in the horizon of world peace and he is about the only hope we have to avoid a very nasty, destructive and possibly nuclear world war 3.

Note:

First step for Obama to succeed "shake off those zionist handcuffs, and act freely"

MarketWatch First Take: Oslo's pre-emptive peace strike - MarketWatch
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The Nobel Peace Prize committee staged a pre-emptive strike Friday, handing the award to President Barack Obama in a sweeping gesture that smacks of style over substance.
Another way to look at it is a vote of confidence in America.
The decision is a victory for the activist faction on Norway's Nobel committee, who believe the prize not only gives their small nation a mighty international voice once a year, but must be leveraged as an agent of peace. That is, after all, what Alfred Nobel had in mind when he established the prize over 100 years ago.
Handing Obama the award will no doubt be seen as a repudiation of the Bush era's pre-emptive military strikes and go-it-alone foreign policies, policies that even among such long-time allies as Norway were seen as a stick in the eye of international diplomacy.
But thinking of it as an anti-Bush statement misses the point.
The Nobel Prize committee is passing the ball to a president not even in office a full year. But Obama has a huge following overseas where he's looked upon as an outward-reaching citizen of the world. His grasp of thorny regional, cultural and religious differences beyond U.S. borders and his ability to address them in dispassionate terms are reassuring to the international community.
The Nobel committee is now admonishing this young president to turn his words into action, hoping today's endorsement gives him even more clout.
It's also a reminder to Obama, personally, and the United States in general that the world is watching. That's because, with few exceptions, the world still admires the United States and wants it to succeed.
Americans might be forgiven for missing the message. It's not the impression they get watching news broadcasts pocked by flag-burning anti-American protests, bombings and angry outbursts by so-called friends.
But that doesn't capture the larger picture. The world still needs a place called America and genuinely wants it to live up to its highest ideals.
By handing the Peace Prize to Obama, the Nobel committee is also honoring the nation that elected him to office and enlisting it in the cause of peace. Sure, it's a purely symbolic seven-ounce gold medal. But it carries a lot of weight around the world and can still make a difference.
Just ask South Africa's Nelson Mandela or Poland's Lech Walesa

people are still getting killed by the dozen every day in Iraq and Afghanistan. Iran keeps getting threatened by USA and Israel of a military attack...so much for peace.

Yasser Arafat and Shimon Perez both got the Nobel prize for peace 3afekra.

Arafat only got it because he agreed to shake hands with Perez, and Perez got it to make Jews look like they too want peace.

Iraq and Afghanistan are 2 problems Obama inherited. Bush invaded those two countries, and Obama wanted a clean start. If Afghans and Iraqis are too stupid to play ball, then it's really their own fault that people are dying these days!

In 2003, it was legitimate to resist to a foreign invader, but in 2009, it is moronic to make the job difficult to someone who promised a retreat!

Plus, if Obama just packed and left, Iraq would burn in less than a week, and you would be posting in a similar thread calling him an irresponsible coward for just leaving Iraq to its fate, washing his hands off a problem his predecessor created!

We as Lebanese and Arabs have an interest in having the US stay in Iraq. If they just left, Iraq would be left from grabs and Iran and KSA (followed by Israel of course) would be going at it trying to take control of it! A regional war would be inevitable! (I don't have to tell you what that would do to Lebanon)!

Also, the US has not played the war game with Iran yet under Obama! In fact, it is the Israelis alone who are playing it, while the US keeps playing the negotiations card! And lately, the Obama administration has made it clear to Israel that if any Israeli plane is seen over Iraq heading towards Iran, the US would have no hesitation to shoot it down!

we're not talking about some Prom King prize here, we're talking about Nobel Prize for peace.

People who win Nobel prizes in sciences r usually pioneers, but what about peace? how was Obama a pioneer?

How was he able to achieve PEACE?
WHEN was he able to achieve PEACE? in the last few

Nelson Mandela won the Nobel prize for peace in 1993 for changing the racist system in South Africa and getting the white and black communities into a peaceful agreement.. he spent 20 years in prison to get there.

SO tell me, what has Obama done??

maybe he's a good fellow, but he was not able to make Israel TEMPORARILY stop building settlements in the west bank. Iraq is not better, Iran is testing its rockets every week or so, more US and nato soldiers are dying in Afghanistan, more civilians dying everywhere, Iraq is only calm coz of Iran and Saudi..

so where's the peace? please enlighten me!! please.
