Well I hope noone was expecting him to say I don't care if Israel vanishes tomorrow or we are gonna throw the jews in the sea. The issue is how will he ensure Israel's security; is it by attacking any possible threat to Israel, or to engage truly in a peace dialogue in the middle east.

Are the Americans that racists? Its amazing to hear this "first afro-american writing history" so much. I felt like America is still in the 19th century with mentality.

Do you really expect from the President of the United States to not to support Israel? Still foreign policy could be perceived much better than Bush did, especially concerning the ME. Everybody can not be satisfied of course at the same time, however its a bit harsh to bury Obama's foreign policy toward the ME and Lebanon before being tested.

No i did not expect him not to support Israel, but I did not expect him to strongly defend Israel and declare that Jerusalem is the permanent capital of israel daring all the arab and muslim feelings. His speech was the same, maybe worse than Bush's past speeches regarding the region.
Anyway, it is not up to Obama to decide the US foreign policy, it is the U administration which is clearly controlled by jews . The president of the US is only a loudspeaker for what the jews want.

You guys (and the American voters) put too much emphasis on what a candidate says during the campaign. What a candidate says during the campaign is very rarely what that candidate ends up doing.

Candidates learn early into their campaigns to take the "path of least resistance"... and those who don't, don't even make it past the primaries of the first few states. Declaring your unconditional support of Israel is for any presidential candidate like the "I do" one says in a wedding ceremony. Can one get married without saying it? I tried... but couldn't get away with it!

First let me thanks the Admin. for making this sticky!!

and second I'm so happy to see History made yesterday!! I believed in Obama from the first time I saw him!! I helped so much I did a lot of phone calls even though people kept on telling me don't waste ur time he will not make it!! but I told them yes he will!! and I worked a lot in school around my friends I made them all to go register, I gave stickers to everybody around me even though the state I'm in a republican state ya3ne if I was in Lebanon during the elections ma bechteghil hek la FPM ad ma chtaghalet la Obama but WE DID IT!! we still have half of the rout to finish Obama can be president and he will nchalla!!

I heard what senator Obama said today and let me say i don't agree with him but he has to say this because any candidate who's running for president in the US needs the Jewish support!! I know that Obama is not good for Lebanon and not only him all the candidates cause for them israel comes first! but I support Obama because i believe he is the one to fix the USA and help the Americans in their problems! I personally gave up on Lebanon so i'm not looking for a candidate to help Lebanon cause I know they won't!!

Anyway Senator Obama needs to focus a lot on the race Issues and specially the problems he is having with his church now cause really the republicans will use it against him!!

For Obama's VP I say NO NO to Clinton!!! I don't like to see her on the ticket but if this will help the party I think Obama will go with it!!

The end Congratulationsssssssssss history was made yesterday!! The first African America to be the nominee!!

cheers

I was surprised too, supposedly you would expect to find racism everywhere except in America. But no, racism is well alive in the USA and now with Obama's candidature it will float to the surface.

Wouldn't that cost him his second term?

Hello,
I really like Barack Obama before but recently, after reading his stances regarding foreign issues and his words at AIPAC,im not sure anymore

I read on his own website:
Support Israel's Right to Self Defense: During the July 2006 Lebanon war, Barack Obama stood up strongly for Israel's right to defend itself from Hezbollah raids and rocket attacks, cosponsoring a Senate resolution against Iran and Syria's involvement in the war, and insisting that Israel should not be pressured into a ceasefire that did not deal with the threat of Hezbollah missiles. He believes strongly in Israel's right to protect its citizens.
-----
How does this differ from Condoleeza Rice's stance!? Or in general, the Bush administration's stance back then...Didnt Condoleeza Rice also say: "We dont believe in fake promises (ceasefires)...

Didnt he look at or care about the losses and suffering in Lebanon.....

Why is it always the top priority to defend Israel,no matter what!?

Very disappointed

Salam !

No American President has ever said this, and no candidate for the Presidency has ever said this. An amazing statement when you think about it.

I believe like Amirkani does - he says what he thinks people want to hear to win the election.
