if u say that the communism ideology failed thats mean u dont know anything about it ,, associating what happen in soviet union with the ideloogy faileur is what we call " faute de principe " .
what happen in soviet union , is a natural consequesce for the stalinist politic and post war era , yalta agreement . and i wont go into details but ill suggest on u to read more about the conflict that happened between stalin and trotskij and what is the basis for this conflict aand before his death what lenin said about stalin . thats to understand what happened in russia.
to know more about the comunism which u call failure , i suggest on ur to read more about the comunist ideology , and its critic for the capitalism and i suggest on u a great book for josef schumpeter called : capitalism socialism and democracy ,
in brief ill tell u that socialim is our future ,

It isnt really clear for me as well, why the pan-arabism should be associated with left-wing policy? Especially talking in the frame of the present context, and not the cold-war era concept.

Regarding hypocrisy in general by the arab world toward the west, I agree, you are right Haruun about it.

I dont believe in the idea of "centrist" by the way. For me its very illusionary. You have to stand/choose a side, theres no middle way in politics I guess.
well the centrist never work , cos based on the dialectic made by heguel , every mouvment or progress is the natural result of the contraries reaction , in anysystem there is a need for left and right , in any mouvment in any idea there must be many tendences other wise things wont go on .

Based on practice, the parties calling themselves centrists has never been pure centrists at all, actually they either sided with right or left.
However Free_Patriot raised an important point, that the rightist and leftist parties tend to loose their pure ideology and mixing one others's, so that they become ever like centrist mass party, satisfying a bigger base of electors. Thats what you raised right? However I think these parties do preserve those basic ideologies and values within their programmes which make them either being a leftist or rightist party.
