I think that Bashar and the Syrian leadership are smart enough, eventhough they didn't show it with the appointment of lahhouss, however we cant' count them out yet w/o a fight.
Having said that, they might know that with the fall of Baghdad and the death of Abou Ammar, things have changed drastically.
The palestinians with the election of Mohmoud Abbas will go for peace with Israel, therefore neither Hammas nor jihad can do anything anylonger about it, except kick on the side a bit.
Therefore syria is alone, even the europeans left them and the arabs are already half dead..thus they need to start negotiations otherwise they will be left behind, which by the way they already are,so no more cards they can play with now except the lebanese card that hopefully will be removed from them forever the same way it was given to them!!
I am very optimistic eventhough I am a bit scared about what an injured beast might do before admitting defeat!!! we will have some tough time ahead but the light at the end of the tunnel is there!!!!!! |
