Default Why Don't We Help Lebanon Ourselves? - 20th February 2007

we all know lebanon is no were near perfect or atleast as perfect as we want it to be. and we all know tht most people in power dont care about the small things tht we as normal civilians care about.
i would just like to know y we as lebanese civilians(or if u like only as fpmers.)dont do something to change the things tht no one in power cares about.
things like the garbage on the side of roads tht sukleen doesnt clean, has anyone been to the area around the marina in dbayeh?, on weekends its full of children playing on bikes or football or people jogging... and all around these children are broken bottles of almaza and wine(which can be recycled sah?) and all sorts of trash tht make the place look and feel very ugly. its not only in beirut but thr are many places in lebanon wer people decide to throw thr trash in some very beautifull places(the usual one i see is trash thrown around the pine forests wer people do picnics).if we take the area around the marina for example, shouldnt fpm do something about it , we are the party tht won the elections in that area and we should atleast try to do something about it, im sure if someone from fpm(someone pretty important,e.g gibran basil) goes on t.v and asks fpmers to take a few hours on sunday(obviously he has to be thr as well) and come help clean thr will be 1000s of people willing to help, thy can even make it a monthly event tht fpm does. what do you guys think?

Great idea!!

FPM's resources are busy, tied to surviving, are you crazy telling them to do something to help average people and give them hope, comeon, who cares about the future (even if its your longterm longevity) when you can put all your energy battling hariri and jumblatt and US and geagea and all the rest

p.S: im basically saying, take the initiative yourself and inspire FPMers to join you (IT WONT COME FROM THE LEADERSHIP) goodluck :)

im not telling gma to come and do this or any mp, obviously like i said thyr not really going to care, but someone younger in fpm(i dont know any but i c them on t.v sometimes)could mention it on t.v or on tayyar.org or whatever just to get a event together, maybe this could be something the younger people in fpm can deal with.

you are talking about recycling good idea but how ? how can you recycle the glass bottles or the plastic bags and bottles or the paper rubbers metel shets and cans when you have no recycling factories we all know that the money that was suppose to help this project disapeared and the project like many others went fi mahab al pockets ! any other ideas/ways of recycling ? yes we can do many artistic work with garbage (glass , tires, paper ...) we did it once to clean a certain area during the war but again this is not so practical on the long run and when you are dealing with tones of garbage every where = ll part of Lebanon .. so what do you suggest ? we clean the roads from bottles or every thing else and then what ? where do we put all that ? how do we recycle all taht in your opinion ? we have the man power fine but the rest ?

Honestly? Because we don't love Lebanon enough. At least I don't. Remember people are more often than not opportunists.

With pleasure!

I've said that, while passing by a raod at Ashrafieh, I saw a guy removing GMA's picture> I said to myself: Why is he so bothered? Later, I saw another guy removing a Hariri's one!! I understood!! They were cleaning the wall!! I wanted to talk about that in the forum and suggest why don't we do the same to the walls near our houses!! It could be a good first step in cleaning our country!

hala2 we dont have to recycle if we cant but we can still clean the places from trash, put the trash in bags and thn put thm somewhere a sukleen truck will pass.
