If you are looking for a warm weather place, drive to Jordan and go to the dead sea area. Move-in-Pick hotel is a beautiful place to be in and the kids will love the swimming pool or even the dead sea water itself, very nice place to be in during Christmas.

Dear friends,
Thanks for the answers so far. Funny to read about the confusion regarding our purpose with this trip, but let me explain. Yes, I am from Norway and as a consequence very familiar with cold weather (although at my place its mostly rain in winter time instead of snow like in most other places in Norway). The main reason behind the trip is to see the family of my wife. She is lebanese with a non-Christian background, so for the kids sake more than anything else we want to go to a place with real Christmas athmosphere for a few days. So far I have noted your advice. Fakra, Faraya and Ehden all sounds nice (havent been to any of them myself). Keep those answers coming and feel free to drift a bit off topic if you want to share nice Christmas memories from Lebanon

You won't feel Christmas in such places.

Well then you need to go to the Christian areas, but you know Christmas is mainly in the homes inside...

However at New Years Eve you will find very good parties even in Faraya

UN520,

You could also look at an alternative by staying within a chalet in a seaside area and use it as a base to either visit the mountain or other coastal cities.

For such locations, check:

Batroun
Jbeil
Jounieh
Beirut

Brummana is also another good location, while it is located at 700/800 m, it is still relatively close to Beirut.

This site will provide less expensive but still valuable accommodation:

HostelsLebanon.com

Hope that helps,
Cheers

mmm i know there's lots of lebanese here who do that (brussels-beirut)...so it's doable

2 months ago we drove from brussels to south of Spain and i really recommend it! ok it was only 2000 km so it took us 2 days to get there but it's so fun to be on the road not knowing where you'll be stoping, the people you meet, the new places and towns you discover...it's just soooo exiting! you could be driving and then find a nice beach so you just stop and go for a swim...road trips are pure freedom! those are real vacations! this is why our next project is a nice small camping car

i've never done such trips but a road trip to europe is an all time dream for me so Good Luck!!

but i feel it's very long trip to paris for a christmas holiday, and the weather is unpredictable in this time of year. i think it's better to do it on summer holiday.

i personally would prefer to go half way to east europe (romania, bulgaria, hungary)

I did many road trips inside the schengen area !!! It's wonderfull !!1

The main problem is to get a visa for each country you will be passing through. You will need at least :
- 1 visa for turkey
- 1 visa for the schengen area

All of them must be multiple entries.
