Baalbeck festival organisers should have DEEP PURPLE this year.
They were going to perform in 2006 but the israeli war ruined it all and the festival was unfortunately cancelled !!

Byblos Festival does something called: Byblos Off Festival promoting everything local, free entrance, but the bands are well paid with posters everywhere

it's not that they don't promote local artists, it's that sometimes local artists suck big time simply...
Good to know conc. byblos off festival. hope they go for a more agressive promotion for this festival.

I don't agree thu that local artists are not gifted ; the problem is rather with the selection criteria and let's face it the string-pulling that doesn't benefit the most talented lebanese artists.

Mika

Pop Concert In Co-Production with Beiteddine Festival & 2U2C
Martyr's Square

Mika is the new genius of pop music. Born in Beirut to a Lebanese mother and living in London, he writes his own lyrics and music. He is often compared to Robbie Williams, Scissor Sisters and Freddy Mercury. His first album «Life in Cartoon Motion» introduces such songs as « Grace Kelly», « Relax, Take it Easy» and « Love Today» and has beaten all records in Europe and the United States. His music is fabulous. His four-octaves voice drives the crowd wild.

Indeed, we MUST have Deep Purple back. I heard a rumor Scorpions might also jump into town this year, but not sure, let's cross fingers

I love Baalback and Beiteddine festival, but come on guys...get new faces!!!!

Magida Roumi is an icon and I would be thrilled to watch her (since I've never seen her in concert), but she comes almost every year

Kazem el Saher too

Same for Gilberto Gil

That's an understatement, they have been shoving her down our throats for years now, plus she was in downtown only recently!
