1st ma hada cheikh w emir 3ala hada, rouho kebbo all those titles bel baher :D
Its nothing to be proud of. They were mostly the "jounblat and hariri and franjiyyeh" of the ottoman rule, like those were of the syrian rule. Oh wait hole bek kamen!
For the person who asked about hierarchy, the ottoman empire was divided into several "kingdoms" called wilayat.
On the head of each they appointed a "wali", whod be called "pacha". That title wasnt hereditary though.
Then there were emirates, on the head of each emirs, which was passed from father to son.
Then there were cheikhs.
Then the peasants.
Cheikhs took taxes from peasants and gave them to the emirs to preserve their power, then emirs took those taxes and gave them to the wali to preserve their power, then the wali gave it to the sultan to preserve his.
Remember the revolt that Tanios Chahine led, when he attacked the Khazens abd Hbeich cheikhs lands because of their mistreatment of peasants. |
