One could say why you did not send it recommended (Madmon), Well I did that before but it never arrive either. The post authorities in Norway payed me that time compensation (symbolic amount that covered the expenses of the "recommended" fees and they said that the post in Lebanon is unreliable).
The issue is not the compensation, but rather the reputation of Lebanon. I am not sure if it the post authorities or the customs (Gamarek) that are corrupt and they have unfaithful employees that steel the post packages.
For those of you who are living abroad, have you experienced similar issues?
What (and how) can we do about it? We must fight against corruption. FPM politics is to fight corruption but I think that the root of corruption is VERY DEEP inside the Lebanese mentality and this fight will be very hard to win.......but we should never give up. |
Mate, your family should ask the customs. If you put an amount larger than 100$, the customs might seize the package, wait for your family to come and pay some ******** fees to recover the package (fees like TVA and some other ****). I've had a similar experience (for packages sent from Norway where I live and from the USA).
The story is that, theoretically, when the customs seize your package, they send your family a letter to ask them to pick it up. But sometimes they "forget" to send the letters, so you should let your family check with them (probably at the airport I dont remember exactly).
