The first time I heard about Jeita grotto, it was 18 years ago here in Belgium when visiting the Han Grotto. At the end of the visit, the guide advised visitors to visit the Jeita grotto in Lebanon (!!) which was for him the most wonderful grotto of the world. I was shoked!
10 years ago, I visited the Jeita grotto, and there was big difference with Han (which is already a natural site Belgians are proud of). And the guide was right, Jeita is another level!

I think we don't realize the value of our natural (and archeological of course but it's not the subject) sites in Lebanon.

I agree with you when you say that Lebanese are too proud of themselves etc, and it's not fair to "bias" such voting by our "nationalism". But I think also you are going too far when you are trying to reduce the value of this grotto to nothing or to something normal because really, Jeita deserves to be considered as the most beautiful grotto of the World.

About the "nationalism" in the voting process, don't fool yourself, Lebanese are not alone voting for their own natural sites. And the voting system is well done, you can vote for other sites and this is what I did but only based on the pictures.

Default Vote for Jeita to be in the competition - 20th June 2008

There is a new official competition to choose 7 Wonders of Nature. There is 77candidates. Voting for nominees will continue through 31.12.08. A New7Wonders Panel of Experts will then select the 21 finalists, from which voters worldwide will elect the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

Jeita Grotto is on the list, at the moment it is in 46th place. We need to make it between the first 21.

When you vote, you have to choose 7 nominees, so in order to help, choose nominees that are behind Jeita in the ranking.

New7Wonders: Welcome to the official global voting platform of New7Wonders

I knew about it through Otv this morning, this is real and serious.

let's make a difference!!!

Why is Jeita so important? There are hundreds of such elaborate caves in the world. The cedar is way way way more important in terms of symbolics, history, and native land. So why don't we put all of our focus on it?

I voted already for both a long time ago, but there's no reason for this attitude.

All I'm saying is, the Jeitta Cave is spectacular, but there are many other caves in the world that are the same, and some even more elaborate and spectacular. So the Jeitta Cave is not the top 1 in its domain.

Either we know what we are pushing for, or we fail everything altogether.

The Cedars should be our candidate because it is a very rare and important natural aspect in Lebanon and valued by the world.

I think twhen they look at the cedars, everyone will wonder how stupid lebanese are to have reduced such a beautiful forest to such a tiny patch. Its a wonder indeed...

It was not on purpose; I didn't know Cedars was part of the list at the beginning. Now that Jeita is well placed, I am following it more than the Cedars, that's all.
As I said in an earlier post, lots of professionals are rating Jeita as the most wonderful cave of the World... it's not as if we are overestimating its value.

I wonder if there is any ranking of the most corrupt, garbage filled, sex industry based economy and hate monger people in the world.

I am wondering if there is any Lebanese who recently discovered a cure for cancer. If I missed the news please fill me in because I am reading the racist annahar newspaper everyday and did not read anything new on the subject recently.

You are such an Angry Arab, lol!
I agree with you on the weekly cancer cures, and i also agree about Jeita being one of many simillar caves around the world, but hey, Brazilians got the Christ statue to be one of the new seven wonders. If you ask me, I'll say 2al3et shkeif is more "wonderful" given the time& circumstances that it was built in!!

So, marelna yaha khaye observer!!!
