La marina - territory of debauchery and crime? - The Orange Room

I'm foreigner and living in Antelias. Before 2 years, coastline called "la marina" was nice place at evening. Yes, some youngsters was doing love in their cars, but it is not a big deal. Some was listening music, sometimes bad, sometimes good. Each person have different taste ;-)

Today it is place, where drunk minors driving motorcycles and cars, fighting one with each other, children in ragged clothes smash windows of cars and stealing things. It is becoming really dark place in relatively good area.

This environment attracts criminals like honey - bees. After while, this will spread to surrounding areas. Just one police car, patrolling at dark can change things.

Do you think there is a way to inform police or government about this subject?

Well if police cars will patrol area - i think all this factors will be eliminated. But still it will be nice place to stay at evening, smoke arguile, watch sea... but how to ask them to do that?

Well when there's a heavy traffic on Antelias Highway i usually pass by "marina" to get home and believe me there's always a "darak" or a "moukefa7a" patrol 24/7!!
halla2 there's alwayas some minor mistakes such as "making out" in the public or sex in the cars.. or smthng like that.. but i guess Marina is not a crime scene.. at least its not that bad as u guys are picturing it!
We've heard about car theft once or twice more than a couple of yrs ago but thats it!

ive never noticed. i go jogging thr at night, and u c girls and boys making out, but never seen anyone getting into a fight, i do know tht if u park ur car away from the crowds thn ur glass will be broken(nearly everytime), but other thn tht thrs nothing to worry about..and during the day its full of people riding bikes, rollarblades, kids playing...plus thrs a small police base on the other side and the army is always driving around. i wouldnt call it crime, in lebanon crime is very very low, not becuz wer r so civilised but becuz nearly everyone is armed.

the last time i was in marina was almost a year ago
and i can say bi kel si2a eno i never noticed darak in marina all my life (untill the last time i was there) , that was before ziad baroud but i don't think that anything changed
of course some of my friends told me that fi shortet al adeb , but i think it's only a myth

I am not talking about something i imagine in my mind. Wife of my friend left car there, and put her bag under driver seat. She go with kids, just to walk there. When she came back - door window glass was broken, and bag is stolen.
Personally i seen, that young people go to the bushes and start fighting there. Another time i so youngster doing dangerous maneuvres, he hit another car and stuck on curb. He tried to go out from car, but because he was so drunk, he was not able to walk.

Marina at night is like a brothel. Every 2-3 meters, u find a car parked and the passenger getting busy with the driver.

Now every couple wanting to explore the partner goes to marina. It's become a sex attraction site. What a low level has our society sunk to.

I advise banning public parking at night in the dark alleys of Marina, and routine ISF patrols to enforce it. There's already a ISF barracks nearby, so let the boys do something useful instead of getting chubby inside the hangars.
