I would agree to some extent if some reasonable rules are applied: for example, if the spouse has a right to claim the citizenship after living for a while in the country (having another connection to the country than just being the spouse of a citizen or the mother of their children).
Also, to protect a nation from people acquiring the citizenship by abusing these rules, nations could have laws that for example tie the citizenship to the relationship OR normal immigration laws applied to the individual. With such a rule a person who gets separated from a legal union loses the citizenship unless he/she would have satisfied the requirements otherwise.
But I think the "Lebanese blood" argument as you stated it is void of any value.
