Default Re: lebanese men and women - 23rd May 2005

A universal law stipulates the Transitory nature of all phenomena.

Wouldn't we be foolish to believe that culture is an exception to that. Culture is fluid, what isnt changing though is the importance of maintaining morality within the ever-changing dynamic that is culture.

And, Equality amongst all beings is at the core of morality, so yes, I do believe we should reexamine some of the unhealthy barriers that we miplaced under the pretext and short-sighted belief of fuedalistic unequitable values.

and yes, if you're wondering, that applies to the invisble and visible dynamics between men adn women!

:)

Women should be allowed to pass the citizenship but they should be stripped from their driving licence in return.

Actually this descriminatory law was taken from the french constitution which was in use back in 1918 when the Lebanese consitutiuon was written. The french changed it a long time ago while we sticked to it till now ( for political, social reasons). Since usually we are 1 century behind civilization, my guess that this law will change in 13 years (year 2018).
