واسقطت هند الحريري هذه السنة الوارث الالماني البرت فون ثورن عن عرش لقب اصغر ملياردير في العالم، وهو يكبرها بثمانية اشهر. واحتلت هند الحريري التي تملك ثروة تقدر بـ1.4 مليار دولار، المرتبة 562 بين 793 مليارديرا صنفتهم مجلة فوربس.

ومنذ اغتيال رفيق الحريري، احتل وراثو الحريري الذين تقل اعمارهم جميعا عن 40 عاما، مكانة مميزة بين اصحاب اكبر الثروات العالمية.

The Forbes classification takes into account stocks, shares... stuff like that, and those fluctuate...
al walid ben talal's fortune this year is evaluated at 4or5 billion less than last year, that doesnt mean he lost that amount of money in cash...

In <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Lebanon</st1:place></st1:country-region>, the hariri policies made the government poor (1992-1998), in turn the business and the private spending slowed down. It is worth mentioning, during the same period, hariri’s wealth increased from 3 to 10 billion.

Let me illustrate with a small example, Hariri was borrowing money from his banks at 20% rate of return. The government has the lowest business risk but hariri artificially increased interest rate to generate profit for his financial institution. Now, I, as a business individual/corporation or whatever, also need to borrow money from the banks to expand my business operation. Obviously, my business risk is much higher then government risk, therefore banks will have to charge me higher interest rate. Let ‘s say 28%. How can I borrow money to expend the economy if I have to pay 28% interest on my money???? Sorry, I cannot, nor anyone else, can compete with a 20% return the hariri was paying for himself. Wall street in NY is very happy with 8 to 9% rate of return. Hariri policies strangled the Lebanese economy for many years to come.

I don't know how accurate are the methods employed by Forbes to estimate wealth (such as the previous estimations of RH's wealth which stood at 6 bill$) so please refrain from throwing factless accusations left and right, however it's interesting to note that RH's wealth was much more substantial than originally thought. Saad Hariri, the leader of a LEBANESE party and a member of the LEBANESE parliament is listed in Forbes as a SAUDI.

I am not saying he should deny his other nationality, but I would question his priorities...
His dad RIP was always listed as Lebanese!!!
