Look in Israel, Ricky Martin was once almost banned from going there just because he wore that palestinian kufa while visiting palestine and we just keep on saying what if he fought in the enemy's army, why ban him??!!! This is so stupid!!!
Gad isn't only so-called Israeli but admits openly that he fought with their army!! He even find them heroes!!

If those accusations against him are wrong, I believe he would have denied them and then canceled the show. Anyway, why would something like that surface only about him on the net while others not ??!! It seems fishy, doesn't it??
He did deny all these accusations..

Again, get me the proof I asked you about

This is a huge precedent based on nothing more than wrong propaganda taken from a shady website.

This is disgusting and I don't see why noone is talking about it here or from the FPM.
According to the magazine NouvelObs.com it all started with this pix
that lebanese media - I'm presuming aka almanar- attributed to Gad almaleh in Tsahal's fatigues.

Naturally this is not Gad Almaleh. AL Manar reporters are apparently that stupid and didn't bother to read the information on the website and to note that it is a pix of some Tsahal soldier WHILE the comments are Gad's. This was apparently part of a campaign in support for Tsahal launched by an NGO (the website owners) and in which a bunch of french artists participated...

So to sum it up
Was Gad an IDF soldier? No
Did he participate in an event in support of Israel & IDF? yes like most french artists
Do the ones protesting against Gad have the right to? Yes in the name of freedom of speech
Does it do them any favor of calling for a boycott? No because they end up as the people who want to send us to the dark ages (IMO we never surpassed the dark ages in lebanon yet but whatever)

I do understand the frustration of the lebanese specially those that directly suffered from Israeli's murderous acts. BUT calling for boycott is plain stupid.
Instead they should have welcomed Gad to lebanon and invited him to visit the populations, the ruins & destructions caused by the IDF, to see the consequences of Tsahal's acts...

It reminds me of the 14M dudes when they were offended by Fairuz singing in Syria calling for boycott etc...

Apparemment la stupidity libanaise depasse les clivages politiques...

I don't think Elmaleh's agent was concerned about proving the allegations wrong. For him, it was just easier to cancel the show.
Who are we fooling? he decided to cancel BECAUSE of all the fuss & outrage & ... on lebanese media...

There are lots of Lebanese politicians who traveled several times to Israel, met with high Israeli officials, and bought weapons from there. Yet, they are still not only living a peaceful life in Lebanon, but also holding top political positions in certain parties.

Lebanon is not utopia. Cultural exchange is what our century is all about. Let Lebanon be part of it.

Is Beiteddine a private or public festival?

The FPM could've voiced its dismay and supported the coming of Gad.
There's still something wrong here

What assumptions are you talking about ?
Again, you're joining Makhoul's mindset in accumulating all the issues you have with HA over the years into this one. You're jumping to the conclusion that this is intellectual terrorism as if Gad Elmaleh is coming to Beiteddine to make jokes about Nasrallah's turban. It's not the case. There's a million reasons why Manar could've made this mistake, one of them is their hatred to anything that is Jewish, but that's your assumption.

The thing that is wrong is the following:

Manar claimed he fought with Tsahal.
He didn't.

From hereon, it's exaggeration by HA bashers that do not know how to have individual arguments. There's no need to tie this to Wilayit el Faqih and Khamenei and Najad.

The reason why we don't have a show is because the guy [righteously] doesn't give a sh!t about proving anything to Manar or to anyone. He just graciously withdraws and does another show, somewhere else where people have evolved to live peacefully.

To quote Seymour Hersh, it's only a matter of self-respect.

It has nothing to do with cultural exchange, and it's not only about Israel: Najwa Karam and Georges Wassouf both sang to the late Hafez el Assad. The latter not only massacred entire towns in Lebanon, but had occupied the country for 10 years. Their mediocre music saved me the hassle of boycotting them, but they still are some of the best selling singers in the Arab world.

The manager that i work with is a french jews who lived in israel for two years. He is the nicest person i ever met and he helped me when i was in a deep sh*t and when other lebanese gave me empty words.

Can i invite him to lebanon or i'll be facing a huge propaganda and i'll be judged because i am an israeli agent trying to help ex-tsahal to enter lebanon?

What happens was ******** !! I only hope that the manar accusations are true, otherwise i 'll not be able to respond when someone ask me why Gad el maleh was obliged to cancel his show.
I can tell him, that it's all the fault of HA, it will work. I'll add that i was so stupid when i defended HA in the past. They will just say that he got his brain back :)

regards,

Gad elmaleh loves israel !
where is your problem guys ? he is jew he loves his jewish state he praise it and invites all his friends jewish and non jewish to visite it fine , this is his personal opinion ! we dont love israel it is our ennemy and the state that brought wars and death to our beautiful Lebanon and its citizens thats too is our opinion .

now did Gad elMaleh at any time hurt Lebanon or the lebanese with any sort of calumniatory comments acts or behavior ? if yes please bring forth the proof !

now lets see how the israely react :

By JEREMIAH MARQUEZ, Associated Press Writer

Monday, July 31, 2006

......Gibson said, "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world,".....

...Abraham H. Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, called Gibson's apology "unremorseful and insufficient." Prominent Hollywood talent agent Ari Emanuel called for an industry boycott of Gibson in a blog posted Monday.

"At a time of escalating tensions in the world, the entertainment industry cannot idly stand by and allow Mel Gibson to get away with such tragically inflammatory statements," he wrote. "People in the entertainment community, whether Jew or gentile, need to demonstrate that they understand how much is at stake in this by professionally shunning Mel Gibson and refusing to work with him, even if it means a sacrifice to their bottom line.

"There are times in history when standing up against bigotry and racism is more important than money."

This is not the first time Gibson has faced accusations of anti-Semitism. Gibson produced, directed and financed "The Passion of the Christ," which some Jewish leaders said cast Jews as the killers of Jesus. Days before "Passion" was released, Gibson's father, Hutton Gibson, was quoted as saying the Holocaust was mostly "fiction."......

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...&type=politics

so the jews have the right to boycott because of a comment they call "anti semitic" they can discredit you , your work, your life, your reputation, your family ....

now this is what i call a bad image of the so called civilised world ! why every time anyone dares open his/her mouth critisizing israel he/she is considered anti semit or terrorist and is investigated isolated fought and banned ?

of course as a LEBANESE civilised person with an open mind having enough respect for every one's freedom of speach i refuse any discremination of any sort from both sides . but when i see that allover the world jews/islraeli take the upper hand and impose their rule i say STOP it is time we treat them the same .

again i ask did Gad elMaleh at any time or any occasion made any bad comments regarding Lebanon or the Lebanese ?

why didnt we boycott Harisson ford's movies he had a very harsh comments AGAINST LEBANON during the july war ? .

if Manar made all this story just because he is Jew well this was wrong extremely wrong and i am realy sad Gad's had to cancel his show .
