Default the first use of "lebanon' in history - 14th July 2005

Can you point out to books, references, site that can help finding when "lebanon' was first mentioned? (apart of course, the old testament)

I mean, when "lebanon" as a state named "lebanon" with borders was known?

Thank you

Lebanon sure was not born due to the Sykes-Pikot, Lebanon is ancient, no one could ever deny it, even the SSNP we don't deny it. Sykes-pikot devided the area including lebanon and put official borders, let say, it took away the area from lebanon, ionstead of saying it took lebanon fro the area. I'm saying this since Lebanon was the heart of this area, by area I mean what we call the fertile crescent. I don't know why people think of us disolving Lebanon in the nation instead of making it more prominent.

Anyways, to stick to the topic, I think the first time Lebanon was regarded to as 10452 Km was in 1920, the decleration of 'dawlit lubnan al kabeer'. Before that Lebanon included less land in the times of what it was called 'al mutasarifiya'. Before that it was regarded to as Mount Lebanon, and that was Mount Lebanon. I think...

thats why i said i wasnt pretty sure, but the SSNP believe that we used to be part of Syria, and Sykes Picot ruined everything. The issue is not Syria as a country, its the whole crescent. we had a heated conversation the other day with the father of my best friend (SSNP), and his idea about the crescent is that we share common backgrounds, and culture... (althought i dont know how much i do share with Cyprus or Turkey). I was tryin to make a point in that we share more things with the Syrians, than the Jordanian, than the Iraqis for example, just because we r georgaphically close. The point i was tryin to make, is that Iraqis will have more common backgrounds with Kuweit rather than lebanon, so thats not a reason to say we should be a same country...

There are plenty of history books on modern Lebanon. However, there is an excellent historical book written by Lebanese professor Dr. Antoine Khoury Harb: Lebanon, A Name Through 4000 Years. Try obtaining this book for a real, comprehensive study of Lebanon's existence.

Hey Diabolo,

I actually do have a copy, but I received it from Lebanon, from the website Lebanon.com (in the shopping section). You can order it from there. It is not available here in the States. It is a huge book, with a lot of pictures. But, sorry bud, I can't part with mine ! And, I have met your cousins, however it was only briefly at a Hafli here. Where exactly do you live, in the US or Lebanon?
