LebaneseGaL, maybe you could share the name of the establishment in question so to not unfairly include other restos/cafes, or can you confirm such behavior in ALL Downtown establishments?

3. For those who mentioned loud youths driving in cars, realize that this phenomenon occurs with youths from various nationalities including Lebanese as examples abound of those that are turning the car radio too high or shouting out of their cars or driving extremely loud motorcycles, etc... as for the comment that Gulf youth wouldn't do the same in their respective countries then obviously you hadn't seen them do so or are intentionally withholding such info.
Withholding what kind of info? That i have never heard or seen this kind of behavior in their respective countries? Then yes u are correct. You seem not at all informed about how strictly the laws are applied there.

Concerning myself, u would notice that i was talking about the khalijis in the car, not all khalijis. I raised this particular issue because they know that everything goes here and they can practicably do whatever they want, so like us they are using our country as a playground. Which kind of struck me this instant, on the reason of my anger. Since we act the same way? Why should we care if they also wreck the country?

i spare myself the humiliation i go elsewhere it is as simple as that . i say humiliation for many reasons one of them is the bad treatment in all this khaf2a .

based on what i heard from many people DT is not what it is suppose to be .
Dry Ice , far from generalisation but what is happening when "some" khaliji are around is not very decent nor acceptable .

when Lebanese people disont un couple go to DT to have dinner (i know the person in this forum will confirm what i will say ) try to have a table in a well known italian resto and before giving them a table they throw in their face " for your info we minimum charge is 50$ per person" you realy wonder chou el ossa ? we did not even see the menu !!!! what if this couple want to have just a pizza ? will it be 50 $ per person minimum per person for a pizza ? the couple leave and try to find another resto , they stop and ask for a table in another one , the "maitre" ask how many are you ? just 2 ? sorry all tables are reserved (most of the tables were empty ) and for your info "we charge minimum 50$ per person"
why the minimum charge is 50 $ for lebanese in DT resto , while i can garanty you from resto owner that "some" khaliji people (6 or more ) occupy a table for houres and houres w khod 3ala zanekha with only few pepsi all evening and refuse to pay the so called "minimum" charge w akid akid akid ma badna nza3il el "touristes" . the resto owner told me am yekherbouli bayti they occupy tables all night for nothing ...while if it was lebanese families /couples/groupe they realy bi nayzo halon and order a lot, eat and leave so the table make more benefit when it is served more then once .
el khalihiyeh elon el sit bas el fe3el el hakiki lal lebneniyeh !

i will add something that personaly happened with me in a shop once and thats why i dont go there anymore i was with friends coming from abroad i took them to DT they wanted to make some shopping before dinner , we entered a shop to buy leather bags and watches one of my friend choosed many watches (4) and bags (3) the 2 vendeuses suddenly left us to take care of "another" client , my friend and I tried several times to ask the vendeuse for the prices but no response mich cheyfinna w metel ejron all they were intrested in is this "khaliji" woman , we got to the counter ma fi hadan yesma3 !! wa akhiran one of the vendeuse came akid bada to2bad my friend asked for small discount as the amount was kind of 7erzein and she was coming back for more next day to buy gifts for her family , the vendeuse bi kel samekit dam w wej nechif replied "prix fixe" ma 3enna mit se3er , next to us was a khaliji woman buying a port-feuille she was arguing about the price the vendeuse said tekram 3aynik walaw ya ahla w sahla fikon bi lebnen i was so bref le comble is that she made a 20% discount but the "khaliji" woman did not like it she simply throw a 100 $ bill on the counter and said this is all i will pay , she took her port feuille and went out while the vendeuse with a smile on her face kept saying ya ahla tekram 3aynik . i will not tell you what was the reaction of my friend bel 3arabi el mchabrah ghassaleton she even throw one bag in the face of the vendeuse and we left . the khaliji woman bought for 100$ my friend bill could have been minimum around 1200$ .

Fair enough, some Gulf people aren't being very decent and some Lebanese people aren't being very decent either, as long as the issue does not pertain to a particular nationality - otherwise such comments are based on mere subjective observations.

I believe that power of lebanese people, that they know their rights and how to protect them, and they never let someone spit in their face. I believe if any lebanese will teach a lesson for places where they are humiliated and spread information about that place - this place will be always empty. Especially because season is finishing, and all Gulf people will go back to their countries... they will need again to have lebanese customers, if they want to have money for food at non-season time.

Wrong. They exist much more, than for example in my country, where they exist only on paper in most situations.

1. If you don't like the scene in downtown, there are plenty of other places to go to

2. As annoying as the behavior of SOME tourists may be, they all bring in revenue this country desperately needs

3. I received the same experience about two winters ago in a restaurant in Faraya, so that stuff happens even outside of Hariri's downtown

Bravo your friend gave the shopkeepers a piece of her mind! It really is humiliating but the best you can do is simply not go to these establishments.
