There is a nice little book by Samir Atallah, the journalist, strictly about the history of Lebanon. It's called Lebanon, Loubnan, Liban. It's very basic and most people already know the information included in the book, but it's a nice book with beautiful book to remember our country, especially for the expatriates such as Mr. Atallah himself.
As for Mr. Randal's book, (Christian militias, Israeli adventures.......) I thought it was an okay book coming from a foreign coresspondent. At times he was very biased, but he explained a lot of the happenings in the war, especially involviong Israel, that I had no clue of.
I still have to read Pity the Nation, because I haven't had the time to start reading that massive literary work. I would like to read more books coming from foreign sources like Randal and Fisk, it's good to get others views. I also look forward to reading some of the books you people mentioned earlier, like Kamal Salibi's, and Farid Khazen's, Thanks! |
