books about history of lebanon
can anyone suggest a good book to read about the history of lebanon, i've seen a few on amazon.com but i can't make up my mind. there's one titled: "The Breakdown of the State in Lebanon, 1967-1976" by farid khazen and another one i found interesting is "The Conscience of Lebanon: A Political Biography of Etienne Sakr (Abu-Arz (Cass Series--Israeli History, Politics, and Society)"by Mordechai Nisan, has anyone read these ???? please give me your opinions.
thanks.

Yes LP, you are right, thats why I tried to stress to the author of the thread that it is very hard to find a non biased book, and thus the advice of reading for different authors with different political affiliation.
I still believe a foreigner would see things with more objectivity because nearly every Lebanese was involved.

Robert Fisk: "Pity the Nation" Oxford University Press (In my personal opinion the best book about the Lebanese war , it covers the entire war, although it is a bit short on the Aoun Geagea war.)
Kamal Salibi : "Crossroads to civil war"
Kamal Salibi : "A house of many mansions"
Charles Glass : "Tribes with flags"
Kamal Salibi was my instructor at AUB for two "cultural elective" courses. He is an excellent teacher. He changed my way of thinking.
