Duke,
UALM tows the line of the FPM when it comes to issues in Lebanon, so yes we are FPM politically. However, this event is non-political and purely about rewarding our fellow Australians to their contribuations to the Australian way of life.

Lets keep and questions there might be to the topic, or I'll make sure they get deleted.

Post UALM Australia Day - 14th January 2008

G'day Greg,

I will post the nominated candidates and there respective fields, in the next few hours.

Regarding who selects and who nominates the candidates, that is done within the UALM (all branches - NSW, VIC, QLD and ACT)
Then a committee is formed, where we assess the nominations and vote on who gets nominated. The process can be quite lengthy.

There is a strict criteria which we abide by, and the nominees must fullfil 95% of the criteria, the most important criteria is which field they have excelled in and how they have contributed to the Australian society and the Australian way of life.

I highly reccomend you attend the event.

Dearest Duke!

Long time no hear. I trust that you have been well.

Contrary to what you believe things havent changed my friend, The same FPM in 2001 is the the same FPM today - that includes the UALM.GMA is the only person to have stuck to his guns since day one.

The MoU (which you detest so much) actually sets a framework for a just, fair and suitable solution to a myriad of issues that are currently outstanding in Lebanon.

Have you read the MoU? Is there anything that goes against Lebanon's sovereignty, freedom and independence?

The MoU proved to all that two totally different parties can sit down and actaully agree.

I ask you dear Duke, what is your solution to HA's weapons? What is Feb 14's solution? Are you going to throw HA in the ocean? Get the US to send the 6th fleet and bomb them into oblivion??

At least GMA offered one, at least give him that. Dont you think he knew it will cost him support in the short term? especially amongst Christians? What GMA did was to break a taboo in Lebanon and actually engage in serious, honest dialogue with another political party and for that it cost him the presidency that he is accused of coverting so much.

Duke, Who formed an alliance with HA then formed a government with them along with Lahoud, then signed a ministerial statement legalising thier weapons while noting that they are necessary and then break off the alliance later on? was that GMA too?

We are in this prediciment today because of the sneaky and dirty politics of Feb14. They have shown that they are willing to work with Syria's (so-called) allies but will not work with GMA or the Tayyar.

GMA has not changed, he was and will always be the conscience that doesnt let those opportunists sleep at night.

Please all I ask from you is to look further than your own nose. Things in Lebanon are not as simple as Aoun is Syrian or HA wants to Islamise Lebanon etc.

Lets think a bit more.

and if you really googled riots in Sydney you would see that the response on behalf of the lebanese community came from the head of the Australian Islamic assoc. Hint hint about whther or not your argument about bechraniyeh is right.
Check out Shire church behavior and ask the locals. Funny "statements" you've made up there.
