Hi

Welcome to my blog.

I will be using it quite often, all are welcome to post comments, I do NOT moderate comments, your comment is your responsibility, if it's bad it reflects who you are, and it it's good it also reflects who you are. I will be replying (hopefully) to all comments that are constructive.

About myself: I have lived in Lebanese during the pre- and post-Syrian presence era (if i can call it so!)... so yes I lived the Hariri assassination... I have left Lebanon 2 years ago...

I will try to reflect the Syrian public opinion concerning Lebanon and many other things, because such point of view is mostly absent from this forum. I will also try to close the gap between our two peoples, since we live in the same region and shares the greatest part of our history!!

I am AGAINST any annexation of Lebanon to Syria, even if the lebanese themselves decide to accept!! Still, I think both countries should make every effort to work together and try to close the gaps. I believe that Syria has a historical role to play in Lebanon. This role is mostly economical and cultural.

I'll let you discover the blog.
Regards

May 6: Martyrs' day

Posted 6th May 2008 at 02:23 PM by syrian
This is one of the two occasions that Syrians and Lebanese celebrate together, each one alone on his side, the second one being the national army day.

I have posted a thread about this commemoration exactly a year ago. And exactly a year ago, I stopped writing anything on the forum.

This is a day we should remember all our ancestors that have fought together and died for us to grow up in a country that's sovereign and free. Those free men from Tripoli, Beirut, Damascus, Homs, Lattakia, Tartous, Aleppo, from everywhere in Syria and Lebanon (before there was anything called "Syrian Republic" and "Lebanese Republic"), they have risen together as brothers and as heros to face the oppressors and dare to say NO and GO AWAY!!

Our ancestors did not see the border between the SAR and the LR. They neither thought about it, nor tried to establish it. Rather, they tried to build a bridge. Or maybe they even didn't try to build a bridge, for many natural bonds were already there for thousands and thousands of years.

Those martyrs, be them under the Ottoman or French occupation, never made the difference between a Syrian and a Lebanese, a Damascene and a Beiruti, a Christian, Moslem, Durzi or Alawi... They have all watered our land with their blood...

Our prayers today go to them. Let us remember their way and try to deserve to be called their grandchildren, for the present situation is quite shameful for them and for us.

May they rest in peace, and may we come together again.
Amen.
