GMA makes a very compelling case for the truth and i salute him for that. however he neglects the fact that truth alone is nothing but one ingredient in the recipe for success, and unfortunately i must say, it is neither a sufficient nor a necessary ingredient; and the proof to that can be found all over history books. to being with, truth is meaningless if we are unable to convey it convincingly, meaningfully and successfully to others. in a battle for principles, the means to transfer the knowledge and the vision are as important as the message itself. i will go a bit further in fact, to say that the truth doesn't exist alone by itself, and as far as human beings are concerned the truth is a conglomerate of reason, hopes, beliefs, fears; it is a mixture of feelings and reasons, both of which can be easily manipulated through manipulating the collective perception of the masses. truth and righteousness requires their own sets of weapons and tools in order to prevail. we have our truth, and it is a very strong one, our message is one of equity, justice, and hope; but do we have the tools to make this message become a reality? simply put, we do not. the message that i have been trying to convey to FPM's leadership doesn't include the adoption of twisted ways to fool people into supporting a malicious cause, but it was rather about making our cause more appealing to those who do not have the ability to discern and make the right judgment when presented with the facts. we live in a very superficial society, where the majority of the people are more interested in appearance than substance, a strategy should be formulated to obtain their support as well, because if they dont support us, then chances are they will end up supporting our rivals. our struggle is not simply conducted in the midst of the discerning ones, for after all, they are a minority in comparison to the other constituents of society even in the most advanced nations; so if we want to ever succeed in making a change to the benefit of our people overall, we have to formulate a pragmatic strategy that deals with our reality as it really is. i am not encouraging the adoption of a strategy based on deception, i am simply suggesting to sugar coat a bitter medicine when offered to those who cannot realize that they could die without it. PS: GMA should write more often, and FPM should find ways to deliver his articles very efficiently to as many Lebanese as they can. |
