The lebanese authorities could've stepped in on 2 fronts:
1) The media front, where some medias were reporting false propaganda inciting violence against someone
2) The
PR front, where they could've given him some assurances that nothing would happen to him.
The FPM could've voiced its dismay and supported the coming of Gad.

Otherwise, yes, I would have an issue with anyone who was willingly part of Tsahal. If he were not on the front, he was covering for someone on the front. It's only a matter of self-respect.
