Feeding you is not the problem, growing within the company is. If you stay in IT, you will not pass to the next level and that is where more money comes in. If you are a programmer, you will remain a programmer until some Indian comes with 1/5th your paycheck doing twice your work.

Correct, but taking Oracle lessons and licenses do not help you become a manager. You will be better in what you in that field and limiting yourself in growth prospects within the company.

Nope, you may think so, but there are billion others especially in India who are stamping Oracle in their foreheads and coming out of the assembly line making less money than you while working twice as much. Do not limit yourself by becoming a programmer. Think big and think smart. Your job is to hire bunch of programmers and manage them, but not necesarily BE the programmer.
