I have been reading this thread since it was opened and didn't write yet. SO ater 7 pages, I will put my comments.
First, I am an OTV viewer since its inception and while I have some cirticism on many points/issues, I think many pots have been too harsh on it.
OTV started from nowhere with way less budget then MTV (yes, budget has a big say in many issues whether people here accepts it or not). I have visited StudioVision and MTV thoroughly and I can tell you that the budget for both entities is just HUGE.
It happened that when OTV opened we were in the middle of a huge political crisis and it can't be just like NewTV during those days. I am sure, as the internal politics become smoother, OTV will move more into a more middle position .
It is true that it had many programs centered around C&R and FPMers but again this was due to the previous point and I am sure as time goes by , things will change.
For the programing, I think many here were too negative. The overall program may not be a top notch but still many programs were quite good (OVrira/3achraba3d el nachra, Maguy Farah, Reflex - quite interesting , a3ich beirut,Ghanne ma3 ghassan,...).
On the OTV news, I want to say that while it is somehow "biased" because it gives a pro FPM point of view, it does it without lying and to be sincere, it had to be like this in the last 2 years.
I don't think by changing this we would have gained much as we all know the bipolarity in Lebanon . I mean LFers/Kataebis/FMers will never watch OTV news even if it is in the middle. Just like I will not watch FTV (I actually deleted it more than 2 years from my menu). SO we have to be more insightful on the reasons.
AND, contrary to 90% of what was written here, I really enjoy JEan Azai Intros at least 7/10 times. We are not a CNN/France 24/.... news channel and this is the flavor we give. It is true though that 3 out 10 JEan Aziz make too much out of it and ONLY in those times he should be milder.
Guys, we have been through very difficult times for 3 full years and you expect OTV to be just like NewTV. No. IT can't. IT is not comparable!
BUT, as things evolve positively, OTV will surely find its place in the middle without alienating its core FPM viewers (By the way, OTV news is way ahead from MTV news from polls. The first is still LBC, then NewTV and OTV are behind close to each other but a bit far from LBC - LBC used to enjoy a huge advance rating 4 years ago , now it lost practically 30% to 50% and then all the rest...). I got those numbers from someone who works at MTV and who is in the media for a long time.
So cheer up , we made lots of inroads but we still have a lot to make too.
It is always like this.
PS: On a commercial side, I think the ads volumes in OTV have also increased and we have more ads there compared even to NEw TV. Surely more compared to NBN and not less than MTV.
