Icon8 Total re-work of OTV (redefinition of its mission) - 15th June 2009

Dear all,

Although time hasn't allowed me to be posting in this forum for some time, it is nice to see some faces again.

Within the scope of discussing OTV's mission, which is in my opinion part of a wider problem we are facing, resulting in major distance between many people and our ideas.

Anyway, looking at how OTV now manages, I am not surprised to see the results of the last elections. Just to note to everyone, our goal is not to win majorities in the christian areas, but our goal is to make FPM and its ideas number one in all areas including Tripoli, Donniyeh, all Beirut, Saida, everywhere.

We used to complain so much that we didn't have the right means to explain our mission, until we got OTV, but what became of OTV?

--> Another politically aligned TV, which shows inflammatory (& re-actionary) news at 8PM, and then it's all sorts of useless shows.

I understand that the structure of OTV, belonging to its shareholders, has to make profit for them, this means more audience, more silliness (Miss & Mr Maten for example 1 day before elections).

In my opinion, OTV is becoming more of a burden (towards the shareholders, the costs, the incomes, the management, all), than a useful tool. A complete restructuring of its mission and finance model is required. We need an outlet (TV or otherwise) to EXPLAIN OUR IDEAS AND IDEALS, remember that our mission is self-liberation, let us not drift.

I don't want a TV whose sole activity is scandals and late night political shows. The TV should belong to the ideas, and not the shareholders.

Anyway, just an example in a greater scope, of what I feel that FPM is getting more and more paralized by being institutionalized.
