I'm not scared of swine flu at this moment because the virus turned out to be less viirulent than initially predicted. It IS infectious, but not that lethal. The regular human influenza virus is more deadly so no need to panic. However what worries me is that this H1N1 strain will infect an already human-flu-infected person where the two viruses would recombine to deliver another new virus that could have worse pandemic potential.
The Southern Hemisphere countries should fully prepare for an outbreak becuase they're entering the winter season. And the Northern Hemisphere should be on the lookout for a second wave of infections come winter.
I don't believe we're gonna have a clear-cut answer before that, and there's no need for paranoia either, regular flu could kill you before swine flu reaches here (so to speak) |
