Default Israel: what is the REALISTIC solution? - 31st December 2008

EMOTIONS ASIDE, what do you think is the REALISTIC solution for the Israeli-Arab conflict? (READ THE POST BELOW BEFORE VOTING)
1- Resistance will eliminate Israel?
2- Israel will eliminate Resistance?
4- Moderates from both sides will prevail and reach a compromise solution?
3- Israel and the Resistance will co-habitate?

Throughout the unfortunate events in Gaza, and even during the 2006 aggression against Lebanon, we always hear sides vowing to eliminate the other. Israel vowed to eliminate HA in 2006, if failed. Israel is vowing to eliminate Hamas now, and we all know that Israel has failed to eliminate the Palestinian resistance in the past 60 years. Both HA and Hamas keep vowing to eliminate Israel. Can they really do that? With all the support and the military power of Israel, can it be "eliminated"? It might be defeated in its aggressions on others, but can it be "wiped out"? and will the rest of the world just sit back and watch HA and/or Hamas "wiping out" Israrel?

PUT EMOTIONS ASIDE, it sounds unrealistic to believe that anyone can "eliminate" the other. Unfortuntely, the moderates on both sides are the silent minority (or majority?). Whenever there are elections, tensions are fueled and extremists end up winning, and extremists are those who vowe to eliminate the other, hence the continuous wars.

Again, EMOTIONS aside, what do you believe is the realistic solution. What can actually happen and be acceptable by the majority of the people to bring peace to this area?
