This "eye for an eye" notion is so horrid despite it being part of islamic teachings. The laws that worked a thousand years earlier are no longer valid in our present. The muslim scholars better do a gathering and renovate some of their teachings (though I guess they will face the dilemma of the Quran being a sacred book and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad being the direct words of God, beliefs which I respect). At the very least, let them issue a fatwa declaring this notion as more of a moral verse rather than to be applied to the letter. |
Impossible, Islam and the Quran are pertinent to every day and age, if you find the punishment very horrid then do not do the crime. Quite simple.
No scholar or religious leader can change a thing about islamic Law, they are not allowed to do so, Islam is a complete religion that does not require fine tuning, unlike christianity which has been manipulated to suite people, Islam remains the same throughout the ages for it is the true word of God, unchangeable, unmanipulatable.
It is not for you, or any other human to change the rule of God.
