Don’t confuse things. General Karam and Jubran Bassil got more votes because all families in Zgharta voted for them as FPMers. This shows how much FPMers and GMA are respected and loved in Zgharta area. If General Karam was a candidate in Zgharta, then the situation would be much different. In other words, General Karam would not get the same number of votes.
You have to get this in your head. Zgharta is a major support area for FPMers. Specifically, Karam as a family (the largest family in Zgharta) is a major supporter of FPM. Franjieh is not interested in upsetting the Karams (as a family, mostly FPMers), if the Karam family did not want Salim Karam as their candidate.
In my opinion, you simply don’t understand the politics of Zghrata. From a historical background, Salim Karam, as the family candidate, is more important and "meaningful" to the Karam family, at this juncture, then General Karam as FPM candidate. Once the Karam family "regained their seat", then “historical physic” of the Karam family might accept Fayiz karam as their representative.
Anyway, if you know that much about Zgharta, you can tell us when the last time the Karams held a seat in Parliament and what was the historical background of the issue. Hint Hint: Wahib Geagea of Bsharri.
Please, don’t get FPM and general Karam trapped into close quarters of Zgharta politics. You are not doing General karam or FPM any favors. | In your opinion, Fayez Karam shouldn't be a candidate in the 2009 elections?! neither in Zgharta or somewhere else?
This is what Bachir is trying to say. He wants to see G.Karam among the candidates. |
