It is all a show, the main important thing for the US is the middle eastern oil, and they will invent all kinds of imaginary ennemies and imaginary terrorists in order to keep their grip on it.
If those couple were a little younger, they would have ended up in Gunatnamo, and after a couple of years, after been subjected to all kind of torturous actions, they would have been released after being judged with some stupid false accusations.
It is all a matter of luck, you never know, by your next trip to the US, you may end up in Guantanamo.
