Where else are they going to find a Syrian regime that's willing to make peace with them and safeguard their borders? about politics, i am not sure
about military, i think that israel is stronger in all fields, maybe even the infantry as of that many of it's APCs are upgraded to provide even greater protection while the syrian APCs are outdated generally
